Alex Bradley

Alex Bradley is a graduate student in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he is studying geobiology. Alex is interested in learning how organic biomarkers can tell us information about what kind of organisms live in modern hydrothermal systems like Lost City, or ancient hydrothermal systems preserved in the geologic record. He grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts, and before coming to MIT he studied geology at Harvard and the University of Michigan. After graduating college Alex spent some time in the NASA Astrobiology program, where he got excited about hydrothermal systems, and decided to learn more about geochemistry. Since then he has spent time teaching geology, and working in the mountains of New Hampshire for the Appalachian Mountain Club. He hopes to spend the next few years working on his degree, learning about various aspects geobiology, and watching the Red Sox win the world series.
