Deb Glickson

Deb Glickson grew up in Coral Springs, FL. After graduating from Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in 1993, she tried to escape Florida but only made it to Gainesville. At the University of Florida, she majored in watching football (Go Gators!), but also managed to obtain a degree in Geology. After graduating in 1997, she continued her studies at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN-another SEC school!) and spent two years going to concerts and clubs. Between outings, she worked on an MS in Geology, focusing on marine geology and tectonics. After finishing in 1999, Deb went to work at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as a Research Associate in Physical Oceanography.

After a rewarding 2 1/2 year stint working with new technology, participating on several exciting cruises, and learning a lot about the field of oceanography, she decided to pursue a PhD in Marine Geology. She is currently in her first year at University of Washington’s School of Oceanography, studying the tectonic and geologic evolution of the Endeavour Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge and waiting for summer so she can go berry-picking.
