Lost City Expedition: Mission

Kris Ludwig

Kris is a graduate student in Marine Geology at the University of Washington. She is currently working on samples from the Lost City carbonate chimneys for her master’s degree and is interested in how these chimneys form and evolve over time. During the cruise, Kris will be helping with vent fluid chemistry and rock sample characterization. Kris is originally from Colorado, where she found her passion for geology. She became interested in hydrothermal vents when she was a high school student participating in the JASON Project working on the vents in the Guaymas Basin of Baja California Sur. In her free time, Kris enjoys skiing, ultimate frisbee, climbing, and travel.
