Extinct Carbonate Sample 3651-0908 from 2000

This sample was collected during the Blackman, Kelley, Karson NSF-funded 2000 discovery Alvin dive, at a depth of 840 m on a N-S trending normal fault that bounds the east side of the field. This sample is heavily indurated carbonate composed dominantly of calcite, with a high abundance of coral polyps intergrown with the carbonate. Pat Hickey was the Expedition and pilot for this dive.
