Extinct Carbonate Sample 3651-1231 from 2000
Collected on the NSF funded 2000 discovery dive at a depth of 731 m, directly below marker 3, in a saddle between the main venting site of the 60 m tall Poseidon complex and a neighboring extinct tower. The sample is composed of aragonite and calcite with minor microfossils (Fruh-Green et al. 2003).
